Ingredients: – flour – baking soda – cinnamon – salt – dates, almonds     and orange peel – eggs – sugar – vegetable oil – vanilla extract

In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, and cinnamon). Add the chopped dates, almonds, and candied orange peel. Combine well. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk eggs. Add oil, sugars, and vanilla extract. Whisk lightly together.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients; stir with a wooden spoon until well incorporated.

With moistened fingertips, shape the dough into a log on the parchment-lined cookie sheet, about 1 inch thick by 3 inches wide.

Brush tops of loaves with beaten egg. Bake for 25 minutes. Cut into diagonal slices of about ½ – ¾ inch slices and return them to the oven for about another 15-20 minutes.
