Oven Roasted Sugar Almonds

These Oven Roasted Sugar Almonds make perfect hostess gifts. Easy to prepare and can be made well ahead of the Christmas rush.

  • 2 egg whites room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 cups raw almonds with the skin


  • Preheat oven to 250℉.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Using an electric mixer, beat egg whites on medium speed until you reach the soft peak stage (2-3 minutes).
  • Continue beating while adding water and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir until combined.
  • Combine this sugar mixture with the almonds.
  • Ensure almonds are completely coated with this mixture.
  • Spread on baking sheet. Almonds should be in a single layer.
  • Bake for 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes or so.
  • Allow to cool before storing.


You can also substitute 1 cup of the granulated sugar with 1 cup of brown sugar.
You can use any kind of nut to make this recipe.
