How to Make  Hash Browns

Hash browns are a brunch favorite, and making them at home is surprisingly simple. Take a look at how to make hash browns that are crispy on the outside and tender within.

Ingredients: 1¼ pounds Russet potatoes (2 medium) – vegetable oil  – butter  – ¼ teaspoon salt – pepper

Grate potatoes using a box grater. Place the shredded potatoes in a large bowl of cold water.

Swirl and drain. Repeat three times or until water runs clear.

Place shredded potatoes in a clean tea towel and squeeze or use a potato ricer to draw out the moisture.

Over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon oil and butter in a cast iron pan. Add the potatoes. Press down and flatten into an even layer. Cook undisturbed for 10 minutes.

Just before flipping, add salt. Turn over and cook the other side without moving it for about 8 minutes or until golden and crispy.
